Back-Seat Driving Now More Fun

QuietGuide on iPad

Back-seat driving is now more fun, with an iPad and a QuietGuide. Our kids turned into local experts, reading the tour, and pointing out the landmarks as we drove.

QuietGuides are actually text and images optimized for mobile devices. Here’s a demo on an iPhone. Available for all types of cell phones, they are just catching on as people learn how to download and save PDFs to their mobiles. It’s worth that step to tour without Internet connection or cell network coverage. Here’s another image to show how it works. Swipe up or down to see the text. Go fast or slow. You control the pace. If the siblings don’t grab it away.

  1. That would be great on our ipad.
The tours ease the stress of preparing for a trip. I used to have to read guide books before the trip, then carry them.
This keeps the back seat driver occupied so the driver can drive.

  2. This is a great idea. My son loves iPad (It is technically mine…) and I can use this to keep him occupied when I am driving. It would be quite educational as well. Great tip!
