BACK SEAT DRIVING IS NOW MORE FUN WITH A TOUR GUIDE ON AN IPAD

SANTA BARBARA, CA, May 18, 2010 -- Back-seat driving is a lot more fun now, with QuietGuides on iPads. Passengers (even kids) can become local experts, viewing a guided tour while riding to a destination, and pointing out landmarks once they get there.

Everyone's looking for good mobile content: VisualTravelTours (VTT) offers nearly 200 guided tours by professional travel writers.

How It Works: On an iPad, swipe up or down to see each page, alternating photo, then text, then photo, etc. Go fast or slow; you control the pace, unless the siblings grab it away. On other mobiles, scroll to advance each page.

QuietGuides are like e-books with text and images optimized for mobile devices. Available for all types of cell phones, they are just now catching on as people learn how to download and save PDFs to their mobiles. After you save the tour, you can use it without internet connection or cell network coverage.

Travelers download a tour ($12.95 for a QuietGuide, $15.95 for a narrated tour) or purchase a CD for $19.95 online. The CD contains formats for all mobile devices, so a family with different device types can tour together.

VTT guided tours range from the pyramids of Egypt to the theme parks of Orlando, from downtown neighborhoods to off-the-beaten-path destinations.

"The most rewarding trips are the ones when you have a local friend show you around," said Marie Profant, founder of VTT. "Our tours introduce you to the places where the locals go, the little-known story of the town's landmarks, the best views, shopping and insider hangouts." These tours keep passengers entertained and well-informed. For more information go to http://visualtraveltours.com.
