Victorian Breckenridge

Of course Breckenridge is a popular ski area, but during the mining era skis were merely a form of transportation. Our tour takes you back in time to those days when Breckenridge was a Victorian mining town. You’ll meet a ghost who haunts a popular restaurant, a miner with a heart of gold, an escaped slave who became a successful restaurateur and a minister who traveled from town to town on his skis to deliver both the mail and the word of God. You’ll also discover the history behind many of the storefronts on Main Street and visit the Victorian homes of French and Harris Street.

Tips in this Tour:
In Breckenridge you are at an elevation of 9,600 feet. Spend a day getting acclimated, and bring plenty of water. Try to avoid alcoholic drinks on the day before your walking tour.
Even in summer, Breckenridge can be chilly. In fact, it’s often referred to as “Breckenwind.” Bring along a jacket and a comfortable pair of walking shoes.
Museum admission is free in Breckenridge.
While we want you to stay hydrated, extra plastic is detrimental to our landfill, so please bring your own refillable water bottle. You’ll save money and you’ll save our environment. And our water is quite tasty!
Breckenridge is a fantastic place to visit in the summer. Humidity is low and cultural events are plentiful.
