Dublin's Guinness Storehouse And Kilmainham Gaol

Not every Dublin day needs to end with a nightcap - some days can start with one! Begin your morning right at Guinness Storehouse where you'll be treated to a complimentary pint on the top floor. Mostly, though, it's getting to the top that counts, and you'll see much en route while exploring the seven-story building and all it has to offer. Later, visit Kilmainham Gaol, the prison location for the 1993 film "In the Name of the Father," to learn more about Ireland's political history. Just remember, if you're asked to participate in the Kilmainham Tangle, always say "no."

Bring your ID card. Both Guinness Storehouse and Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin offer lower rates for students, seniors and children. You can get an additional discount for Guinness Storehouse by purchasing tickets ahead of time online.
It can be a long wait at the gates of the Storehouse, but there's a trick to getting in quickly. To bypass the line at the door, plan on either using your credit card to purchase your tickets or to prepay online. Machines, offset to the left of the admission line, will print your tickets to expedite the process.
Many tourist maps are hard to navigate, and maps of Dublin often neglect to include tourists sights located on the outskirts of the town. For an all-inclusive map of Dublin, (it even includes street names!), ask the bartender at the Gravity Bar of the Guinness Storehouse. The map you will receive is a gem for the Dublin tourist.
Kilmainham Gaol attracts long lines on the weekends and during tourist season. Dublin Pass holders have free priority access to over 30 Dublin attractions. The passes are pricey, but you only pay for the days you will stay and the sites you will visit.
Be sure to set aside some time to explore Kilmainham Gaol's Museum. It's free! The two-story museum is full of interactive informational exhibits. Learn about some of Dublin's youngest criminals and what drove many Dubliners to commit crimes.
