Tips in this Tour:   Read More
The Central Florida sun can be brutal, and Disney's Animal Kingdom is largely an outdoor park. Wear a hat and plenty of sunscreen, and be sure to stay hydrated. Personal misting fans can be purchased at the park, but are significantly less expensive at the local drugstores.
Carry a rain poncho, as the weather can be unpredictable. Many outdoor experiences close down when lightning is within five miles of the park, but will remain open during rain. A lot of guests leave at this time, offering those who are prepared much shorter waits at popular attractions.
Many guidebooks recommend going back to your hotel for an afternoon break. Rather than spending the time, why not join other guests napping in the shade at one of the well-maintained green spots?
It is easy for kids to become overwhelmed by the sights and sounds. To prevent overload, take time out to stop and watch the animals play or simply rest on a shady bench.
Kids' meals are significantly less expensive than adult meals, but do not feature as much variety. Adult portions are large, so if your kids are adventurous eaters, consider splitting an adult entrée with them.
