Tips in this Tour:   Read More

Disney's Animal Kingdom is mostly an outdoor park. Central Florida weather can be brutally hot, so make sure you are prepared. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water, and consider carrying a personal misting fan. Fans can be purchased at the park, but are much less expensive at your local drugstore.
Rain is common in Central Florida, especially during the summer months, but attractions close only when lightning is spotted within five miles. Bring a lightweight poncho and take advantage of significantly reduced crowds.
The majority of restaurants are counter-service. If you prefer table-service dining, make reservations well in advance. Table-service meals are an experience in themselves, so plan to spend an hour and a half or more enjoying a leisurely break.
Don't over-plan your day. Most of the best experiences are spontaneous, from watching tigers swim to enjoying an African drumming group. Make sure you allow enough time to enjoy unplanned adventures.
The animals are most active early in the morning and late in the afternoon. Plan to see shows or go on rides during the hot afternoon, when most animals are resting in the shade.
