Four Fun Hikes In The Smokies

As the nation's most visited national park, the Great Smoky Mountains can get busy in the high season. But with half a million acres of wilderness available, the best way to see the park (and escape the crowds) is to head into the woods on foot, enjoying everything from steep treks up mountain balds to easy walks to waterfalls.

Tips in this Tour:   Read More
Bring rain gear and dress in layers. Temperatures and weather can change quickly in the Smokies.
Make sure to have plenty of water and high-energy snacks available for your hike.
Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots are a must. The Smokies receive as much as 80 inches of annual rainfall, and the trails are often wet and slippery.
Be prepared; bring a trail map as well as identification books on flora and fauna to make your hike more enjoyable.
If you encounter any wildlife on your hikes, especially black bears and elk, give them a wide berth and do not approach.

Click to see how our tours display--tons of images with either text or narration--much better than any audio tour because you can see the sites. It's like having a friend show you around, with priceless advice and insider information, to enjoy at your own pace. Our samples feature different locations throughout the year.
