Wine And More, California's San Simeon To Morro Bay

Enjoying wine in a beautiful, natural setting makes the Central Coast of California a special place to visit. The San Luis Obispo County region boasts hundreds of wineries, and in the northern coastal section there are a number of tasting rooms to visit. But that's not all there is for a visitor to see and do in this area. You can enjoy hiking in three nature reserves, fish off piers in three towns, surf the good waves, go sea kayaking, and swim in the cool waters of the Pacific. There are antiques and art galleries, shops, and museums to explore, and, of course, lots and lots of wine to enjoy!

Tips in this Tour:
A visit to Hearst Castle State Historical Monument is a must, but to avoid large crowds, plan your tour for off-season or for a weekday. Summer days and weekends are busiest.
When visiting a tasting room, be open to trying new varietals and styles of wine, and don't be afraid to ask questions. The staff is there to educate you, about everything from wine terms to methods of fermentation.
Antique shopping is contagious and habit-forming, so set your budget accordingly.
While wine tasting, remember the dump bucket is there for you to use after you have had your taste. There is no need to drink the entirety of each selection.
Bring your camera and/or camcorder for wonderful shots of area wildlife, seascapes, and the scenic beauty of the various nature reserves.
Don't combine wine tasting and hiking in the nature reserves. Do your hiking first and then go on to the tasting room.
On your tasting tour, plan for a designated driver or book a guided wine tour. Information is available at chambers of commerce for each town, or at the San Luis Obispo County Visitors & Conference Bureau.
