Munich And The Third Reich

Munich was the birthplace of the Nazi Party and described as the "Cradle of the Nazi Beast." This tour tells us why. Behind the charming façade, the city has been witness to some of the darkest moments in history. Join the tour and walk through some of the defining moments of the Third Reich and Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. Listen to stories of German Resistance and see where Hitler made his first speech, where the Nazi Party was formed, where Hitler tried to shoot his way to power, and where the ideological heart of the Nazi Party was located.

Tips in this Tour:
Make sure you try a local Bavarian meal--weiss wurst (white sausages) and beer. Best enjoyed in a beer garden. The world’s most famous beer hall, Hofbräuhaus, is located in Munich.
Oktoberfest is the world’s biggest tribute to beer. It generally takes place during the last week of September and the first week of October. The city is packed to capacity during these two weeks so make sure you make your bookings well in advance.
Best time to visit Munich is between May and October. Winters are severe but offer a nice city break for skiers on their way to the Alps.
It’s best to carry a light jacket even if you’re visiting Munich in summer. Nights can get quite chilly and there is always the chance of occasional rain.
For a close look at the atrocities committed during the Third Reich, visit the Dachau Concentration Camp which is a 30-minute train ride from the heart of Munich.
